EU-Qatar Air Transport Agreement: EurECCA demands compliance with fair competition in Europe

The high social standards within the EU must not be put at risk due to a competitive disandvantage for european airlines.

EurECCA has taken note of the conclusion of the EU-Qatar Air Transport Agreement of 28.06.2021. The potential benefits of such an agreement must always be seen in line with very clear compliance. For the European market, the new agreement may become a risk if compliance is not strictly monitored.

EurECCA makes an urgent appeal to the EU Commission, which must ensure with absolute vehemence that the agreement does not become a door opener for unfairly developing competition and that the agreed rules are observed. Should violations occur, they must be clearly pointed out and punished accordingly.

The high social standards within the EU must not be put at risk due to a competitive disandvantage for european airlines as crews are often employed at financial costs and social standards considerably lower than those of european aircrews.
