Aerotoxicity AVSA Report

Fume events and their effects

Aerotoxicity concerns the pollution in confined aircraft spaces, known more commonly  as the “smoke event” phenomenon.  Human health is compromised through skin contact and the inhalation of toxic fumes as a result of direct and continuous exposure to a chemical reaction from the pyrolysed lubricant of aircraft engines, contaminating the aircraft’s “bleed air” system.
