Work, Safety, Rights: we need more

As we close the year 2021 and look forward to 2022, all EurECCA unions’ members would like to share with you a few highlights from the year, tell you about some of our plans for next year and ask for your support in signing EurECCA’s petition against self-employment for Cabin Crew in civil aviation.

With the sanitary crisis, Air Transport is still crossing a turbulence area that directly affects all Cabin Crew in terms of flight safety, working conditions, wages, social protection and health and safety at work.

  • After much lobbying and proving EurECCA is a credible and legitimate organization representing cabin crew in Europe and a key partner for entering the Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee on Civil Aviation and EASA Stakeholders Advisory Body (SAB). This means talking about your issues right where it matters most;
  • Status of observer with active participation and contributions in the meetings of the sub-group on social matters related to aircrews organized by the EU Commission on self-employment, enforcement of applicable law, work through intermediaries included temporary agency work and pay-to-fly;
  • Directly involved in new regulations package as Fit for 55 as well as the revision of the “EU Air Services Regulation” (Reg. 1008/2008);
  • Key meetings and/or contributions with various European institutions including the European Commission, European Parliament, European Labour Authority (ELA), European Agency for Safety and Health at work (EU-OSHA),Technical Committee in CEN TC436, Consumer Organizations;
  • Hearing on future low cost air travel with focus on the main challenges of competitiveness, safety and improving working conditions.
  • Direct participation and contributions in the European Commission’s consultation, studies and reports relating to air transport.
  • Joint Committee and the Expert Group meeting under the Agreement on Air Transport between Qatar and the European Community and its Member States;
  • Cabin Air Technical Committee in CEN TC436 to share feedback and give recommendation for the nature of a possible future Research Project;
  • Partnering with our colleagues in the European Cockpit Association and E4FC on issues of common concern;
  • News, press releases, position papers and statements.

EurECCA will be continuing working for you on this issues on next year.

About EurECCA: established in Brussels in 2014, the European Cabin Crew Association, EurECCA, represents, protects and develops the rights and needs of cabin crew all over Europe. It is composed of cabin crew unions from European Union Member States as well as accession and bordering states, and represents some 33,000 cabin crew accounting for 70% of all organized cabin crew in Europe. EurECCA has no political connections. EurECCA’s work is around Cabin Crew working conditions, wages, social protection and health and safety at work.
